 .
7
• OROP10 COUNCIL PIEETING HELD JANUARY 10 , 19 7 7 Page 16
Massengale moved, Butler seconded, to approve VO-T.sCH SCHOOLS
.l documents and enter them into the Vo-Tech (Continued)
e chools rcord. P7otion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
Proposed Location of Vo-Tech School in riedina and
` its ffect on Orono Residents - December 28, 1976
• lo The increased traffic along Old Crystal Bay
Road which fronts the Orono Schools will add
to the existing traffic hazard along the road
and at the intersection of Old Crystal Bay
Road and Highway ##12 and thus result adversely
on the safety and welfare of Orono residents.
• 2. Additional municipal services would be required
from Oroo if the Vo-Tech is located along
Orono's boundaryo This would result in an
added financial burden to the residents of Orono.
a. Police - T_affic control and security,
be Sewer - TTunicipal trunk line servicing school.
cv Streets - Preserve and maintain.
•
3, The urban nature of a school would be in conflict
with OL1" comprehensive plan which designates
i this _ea Gs rural, Also conflicts with our
rural residential zoning of this district.
Our comprehensive sewer plan has been designed
to service existing problem areas for the
health, safety and welfare of the public - not
• for the purpose cf increasing development.
5e The insal_lation of sewer interceptors on trunk
lines in this area will lend to a more dense
developrent which will result in a higher
degree o hardcover, thereby increasing the
rate of flou of storm water runoff. The
increasecl runoff ratio will add to the
pollutien of the lake and ground water storage
thus arfer-inq the health, safety and welfare
. of the general public.
6. Urbanization of this area will have a deleterious
effect on the environment and ecology of the
City and o^e again affect the health, safety
and velfare o the general public.

+7. This same urbanization will result in pollution
and the requirement of municipal sewer systems -
a financial burden to the residents of Oronoo
8, Incrcs_c -raffic from the proposed site will
only complicate existing traffic hazards along
local, County and State corridors, yet we have
never been able to obtain a firm commitment
frcm th County or State departrients for
future i.m.provements.
