Franzel. <br /> Franzel : I think I would like to make a little summation, because I have <br /> been involved in this marina consideration and this ��roblem that certainly <br /> has been very serious for quite a period of time , I think some of the <br /> statements to the faet that �vay back some of these things h�ve be��n pointed <br /> out is quite true , and this is a serious problem. Now, I �ould like to <br /> say this at the basic start here . I think the fact that Lake Atinnetonka <br /> is in trouble is a fact that is not go �ng to be disputed by anybody here <br /> tonight. I think also if we as respon�ible citizens are going ta be able <br /> to come up �ith some judgement and some logic, we h��ve to take a look at <br /> not just one little isolated spot. �e 've got to look a little bit broader. <br /> Now, for example, and I 'm not saying this in any way against the state <br /> conservation department or the state health department, but I think the <br /> conditions and the realizatian of the seriousness of this problem has <br /> changed the outlook of quite a few people , and when I say people, I mean <br /> the experts in this area. ��or example , in 1963 the concerned state agencies <br /> gave Orono and other communities approval to put their a�iluent into the <br /> lake . I was stated this was all righ t to do, and it was done . Now, they <br /> have completely reversed, and as you know, they will not permit any more <br /> plants to be built on the lake , and there must be a time limit as to how <br /> long the present ones will be able to put the affluent into the lake . <br /> Now, I don ' t this one fact in itself makes the ��g whole proof, one way <br /> or the other, but I think the point is here that ice 've got a serious <br /> problem that is extremely critical , and this is only symptomatic, I think, <br /> of one of the signs that point to it. Now, the second one is that there <br /> will not be any new facilities of that type permitted in any way, shape, <br /> or form. Also, as I think you all kno�v, and was mentioned here tonight, <br /> that the red or pink algae has been noticed on the lake , and the experts <br /> point out to us that this is an extremely serious sign. Now, I don ' t think <br /> we can isolate the se�ver, the lawn fertilizer, the boats , or any one group <br /> saying this is the cause of it alon�. It certainly is a conglomeration of <br />
