,`
Page 4 - #4220 92-4026
' 3 0 ENGINEERING REVIEW

3.1 Project Data
The engineering recommendations made in this report are based on our understanding of the
project as described in the following paragraphs. The recommendations are valid for a specific set
of projert conditions. If the characteristics of the project change from those indicated in this
_ section, it is necessary that we be notified so we may determine whether the new conditions affect
our recommendations.
We understand it is proposed to construct new municipal facilities for the City of Orono. The initial
portion of the construction will consist of a new public works building located in the southeast comer of
the site. Located to the north of the pubiic works building at approximately the mid-point of the site
" along the eastern edge, a cold storage building is proposed, and a salt storage building located further

to the north. Along the southwestern poRion of the site, a council chambers, city hall and police station
_ will be designed as individual suuctures attached by walkways. The initial phase of the work will invotve
construction of a public works facility only. Also completed, but not included in this repoct, were two
soil borings for roadway, as well as three soil borings for a future water storage tank facility.
Recommendations for the roadway and the water storage tank are provided in a separate report. Borings
#12 through #16 are included on the sketch, however, for reference.
Proposed first-floor elevations for each of the structures have been provided. We assume the construction
will consist of single-story,slab-on-grade buildings without basements. Construction of basements would
- not be feasible due to tte relatively high groundwater tabe. We assume lighter wood-framed construction
, twin ct+ testnq
rr+r..-,.n..n
