The Engineering firm is responsible for calculating prescriptive rebate estimates.
J.Implementation
The Study is designed to provide Business Case justification and sufficient information to proceed with implementation.
K.If applicable, assess cost savings from improved building power factor ratchet charges and Company's Saver's Switch program and Electric Rate
Savings progam, including Time of Day and Peak-Controlled Tiers I and II.
. ,. . _ ',
The Study prepared by the engineering firm must contain the following when appropriate,in addition to A-K details.
Refrigeration studies
Refrigeration studies are focused on investigating feasible refrigeration systems and options and their owning and operating costs.
• Consider all feasible options including ammonia, direct expansion, and combinations of both existing and new systems.
• Consider optional feasible prime movers such as gas engine driven systems.
• The study must identity design day, annual loads, and assumptions used.
• Consider the interaction between refrigeration and HVAC systems(e.g.,space humidity)
• The Study must consider the impact of feasible energy saving strategies such as waste heat recovery, variable pumping, defrost control strategies,
winter free cooling,condenser options(e.g.,air,water,evaporative►,head pressure controls,subcooling,compressor strategies(e.g.,multi-stage
systems)and supervisory monitoring and control systems.
Cooling system replacement studies
Cooling system replacement studies are focused on investigating teasible cooling systems options and their life cycle owning and operating costs.
• Consider all potential feasible electric options.
• Examine other options such as district cooling and thermal-driven systems, where factors such as site, load type,or other considerations make
them viable.
• Develop design-day cooling load profiles.Assumptions in the formulation of this data must be kept to a minimum,as the total load profile(on a
24-hour basis)is critical to the proper analysis of the options.
• Consider equipment efficiencies at partial load conditions.
• Calculate total ton-hours required on the design day.
• Calculate cooling systems actual base caseload. In the case of once-through well water systems, the base case shall be a standard efficiency
electrical cooling system.
• The Study must consider the impact of energy saving strategies including, but not limited to:chilled water temperature reset, condenser water
temperature reset,and chiller optimization(i.e.,multiple chiler systems►.
• Consider the use and energy impact of premium efficient motors and adjustable
speed drives where applicable.
• Studies for buildings that appear suited for rooftop units only, are discouraged.
., . „ .°"'' ` . , .w.: _
P wf "*-.-x.. `ik.. .`
Additional incentives for implementing identified conservation measures will be deter- XC@Energy
mined by Xcel Energy upon completion of the study.The incentive amounts are based on p E S P 0 N f I B l E a.
