If you have any questions or
need additional information please contact me.
Backqround
3535 Ivy Place is lakeshore property. It has a steep slope down to the lake. In the
summer of 2006 the Bazils hired a contractor to remove the buckthorn from the slope.
Unfortunately the contractor used mechanized equipment and removed virtually all the
vegetation from the slope. A replanting plan was required. There was a steep pathway
to a terraced area about half way down the slope. Between the terraced area and the
bottom the slope was a stone stairway. There were issues with how well the replanting
plan was implemented. We were monitoring the success of the slope restoration and
have photographs of the property.
In October, 2007, Lyle Oman found a wooden staircase approximately six feet wide had
been constructed between the top of the slope and the terraced area. A deck
approximately eight feet wide had been constructed between the bottom of the lower
stairs and the dock. They had been constructed without the required "building permiY'
and were wider than the maximum allowed 4 feet. Before and after photos are
attached.
Pete Bazil filed an application for a permit on October 23, 2007, but did not provide a
valuation for the project so the permit could not be issued. There were also questions
about what part of the deck could be retained. The initially we told him he could only
keep a four foot wide section running depth of the deck. Later I told him he could keep
a four foot wide section running its length. A copy of the permit application is attached.
