MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, February 11, 2008 <br />7:00 o’clock p.m. <br />___________________________________________________________________________________ <br />MAYOR/COUNCIL <br /> <br />Bremer commented on the tragedy that happened at the City Council meeting in Missouri and the <br />security issues that it raises. <br /> <br />Murphy suggested whenever a Council member feels there is a potential for that type of situation, they <br />notify the policy station. <br /> <br />White stated the Wall Street Journal had an article on nine cities who are taking steps to reduce their <br />energy consumption. White stated the City of Orono should look at ways to reduce their energy <br />consumption. <br /> <br />White indicated he is planning to make himself available on Saturdays in different locations to meet <br />with residents. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY ENGINEER’S REPORT <br /> <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT <br /> <br />*8. EXTENSION OF HENNEPIN COUNTY EPDB AGREEMENT – RESOLUTION NO. <br />5724 <br /> <br />Bremer moved, Murphy seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5724, a Resolution Authorizing <br />the City of Orono to Extend an Agreement for the Use of Hennepin County’s Electronic <br />Proprietary Data Base. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br /> <br />9. AWARD BID FOR AUDIOVISUAL SYSTEM FOR THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br /> <br />Bremer moved, Rahn seconded, to table the bid for the Audiovisual System for the Council <br />Chambers. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br /> <br />10. BIG ISLAND PARK BLUFF STABILIZATION PROJECT BY THE MCWD <br /> <br />This item follows Item 3a. <br /> <br />*11. ACCEPT RESIGNATION OF OFFICER GLEN STROM <br /> <br />Bremer moved, Murphy seconded, to accept the resignation of Officer Glen Strom, effective <br />February 10, 2008. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br /> <br />*12. APPOINTMENT OF POLICE OFFICER MATTHEW SILTALA <br /> <br />Bremer moved, Murphy seconded, to hire Matthew Siltala as a police officer at a pay rate of <br />$21.07 per hour (2007 Contract), with a start date of February 11, 2008.
