MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, September 9, 2013 <br />7:00 o’clock p.m. <br />_____________________________________________________________________________________ <br />    Page 1 of 11   <br />  <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />The Orono City Council met on the above-mentioned date with the following members present: Mayor <br />Lili Tod McMillan, Council Members Kristi Anderson, Cynthia Bremer, Lizz Levang, and Aaron Printup. <br />Representing Staff were City Administrator Jessica Loftus, Finance Director Ron Olson, Assistant City <br />Administrator for Long-Term Strategic Planning Michael Gaffron, Planning Coordinator Melanie Curtis, <br />Public Works Director/City Engineer Jesse Struve, City Attorney Soren Mattick, and Recorder Jackie <br />Young. <br /> <br />Mayor McMillan called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />Item Nos. 5, 6, 8, 11, and 13 were added to the Consent Agenda. <br /> <br />Levang moved, Printup seconded, to approve the Consent Agenda as submitted. VOTE: Ayes 5, <br />Nays 0. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />*2. CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION OF AUGUST 26, 2013 <br /> <br />Levang moved, Printup seconded, to approve the minutes of the Orono City Council work session <br />of August 26, 2013, as submitted. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br /> <br />*3. REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 26, 2013 <br /> <br />Levang moved, Printup seconded, to approve the minutes of the Orono City Council meeting of <br />August 26, 2013, as amended. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />4. PRELIMINARY 2014 BUDGET AND TAX LEVY – PUBLIC INPUT INVITED <br /> <br />Ron Olson stated tonight’s meeting is for the City Council to adopt the preliminary tax levy and budget. <br />Staff has been going through the 2014 budget process since the end of May and the City Council has had <br />three budget work sessions to provide input and direction. On September 16, the City is required to <br />certify the preliminary levy to Hennepin County. After that point the levy can only be decreased and <br />cannot be increased. The final levy and budget will be adopted at the December 9, 2013, City Council <br />meeting, which will start at 6:30 p.m. rather than 7:00 p.m. Public input will be allowed at that time as <br />well as tonight. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Item #02 - CC Agenda - 09/23/2013 <br />Approval of Council Minutes 09/09/2013 [Page 1 of 11]
