EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT DISCUSSION, Continued) <br /> <br />Struve stated on the original it appeared to be in a slightly different font but that it did not appear to have <br />quotation marks around it. Struve stated he can inform Mr. Longe that the Council would prefer that <br />phrase be italicized. Struve noted the language above it appears to be in all capital letters and this is in <br />upper and lower case. <br /> <br />Bremer asked where that sentence comes from. Bremer indicated she has seen that language in print and <br />videos but that she is not sure if it is copyrighted. Bremer suggested perhaps the City verify that it is not <br />copyrighted. <br /> <br />Mattick stated oftentimes printers will do some internal checks but that he is not sure whether that will be <br />done in this case. Mattick stated it may simply be public domain type language. <br /> <br />McMillan asked if someone could check on that. <br /> <br />Struve noted Mr. Longe is out of the country and likely would not be able to do that. <br /> <br />Bremer stated if there is any issue at all, it should be verified. <br /> <br />Mattick suggested the Council considering striking it if they feel it is redundant. <br /> <br />Anderson noted that language would be on the back of the memorial and suggested approving the <br />language contingent upon it being verified it is not copyrighted. Anderson stated she would like to know <br />what Mr. Longe’s intention was with the language and that she would prefer not to change it until Mr. <br />Longe has a chance to address the issue. <br /> <br />Bremer asked when he will be back in town. <br /> <br />Struve indicated he is not sure when Mr. Longe will be in town again but that his understanding is it will <br />not be before the end of the month. Struve indicated the only communication available at this point is <br />through e-mail. Struve stated he will pass on the Council’s concerns about it potentially being <br />copyrighted to Mr. Longe and then get back to the City Council. <br /> <br />Mattick indicated he will take a look at it. <br /> <br />Bremer suggested asking Mr. Longe if it would be acceptable to move the language “Dedicated 2013” to <br />the white space and leaving off the phrase “Land of the Free Because of the Brave.” <br /> <br />McMillan stated she also noticed a number of shrubs in front of the city hall building have died and that a <br />decision will need to be made on what should be done in that area as well. <br /> <br />Struve indicated he will take a look at that. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Item #03 - CC Agenda - 07/08/2013 <br />Approval of Council Minutes 06/24/2013 <br />[Page 8 of 15]
