Kujawa noted the retail <br />is closed during those times. <br /> <br />Bremer asked how large the boats are. Bremer noted the larger the boats can accommodate more people, <br />which would increase the need for parking. <br /> <br />Kujawa indicated the boats are smaller than what were being previously used in those slips and consist of <br />a couple 20-foot boats and other medium sized boats. In addition, the boat club also has 24-foot pontoons <br />and 25-foot pontoons. Kujawa indicated he is not running any of the really large boats but that there are <br />definitely times when people are meeting other people there. Kujawa noted they also send out parking <br />decals and that doing all the striping last year was a huge thing in helping the parking situation. <br /> <br />Bremer asked if he is talking about the eastern lot. <br /> <br />Kujawa indicated he is. <br /> <br />Printup stated he likes the idea that he wants to expand and the idea about a parking plan being <br />documented. Printup stated he also likes the fact the fuel issue is being addressed and that he is looking at <br />purchase agreement and getting things cleaned up. Printup stated he has questions if this expansion is <br />approved whether the momentum might stop or slow down to improve the site. <br /> <br />Kujawa stated neither the City nor he wants to have an operation sitting next to a house in that state of <br />disrepair and that he has performed some improvements on his own dime. Different plantings and other <br />things were done by him to try to improve the appearance. Kujawa concurred the house is an absolute <br />eyesore and that he would not want to live next to it. Kujawa indicated he will work with whoever owns <br />the property but that he has to know he has a place where he can grow his business before he continues <br />down that path. Kujawa indicated he has been working on it for three years in an attempt to make it a <br />better property. <br /> <br />Kujawa distributed some letters of recommendation to the City Council. <br /> <br />McMillan opened the public hearing at 9:43 p.m. <br /> <br />Matt Johnson, 1432 Shoreline Drive, stated he and his wife are pretty stereotypical Orono residents. They <br />both work and have two teenage daughters. They are attempting to be good stewards in the community <br />and do not classify themselves as elitist property owners.
