Planning Commission packet dated November <br /> Background <br /> In their workshop on February 3, 2016, the Planning Commission heard from seven <br /> property owners commenting on the proposed vacation rental ordinance. These seven <br /> are among the 12 vacation rentals owners identified by staff after searching through the <br /> various vacation rental websites in December, including AirBnb, Homeaway, VBRO. <br /> Most of those comments respected the need for regulations, noting that they are more <br /> protective with their own home and property than the city would be, but did not want <br /> overly restrictive regulations. They did not support a total ban on vacation rentals. <br /> The draft ordinance prepared and reviewed includes provisions for a business license, <br /> and 15 criteria. The Planning Commission is asked to modify the draft ordinance and <br /> forward the draft to the City Council for adoption. <br /> Comments received, summarized: <br /> Jody Laughlin, 120 Big Island, noted that much of the issues of concern are issues <br /> she's experiencing in Cruisers Cove, adjacent to her property, and the response <br />
