ORDIIiYItiCE 41 , SFCOND SERIBS <br /> An ordinance of the City of Orono addin9 5ection 2.38, to the <br /> Orono City Code , providing for the City Council designation of employees <br /> and officers authorized to issue citations. <br /> Section 1. Chapter 2, of the Orono City Code is hereby amended by <br /> the addition thereto of a new section, to be Numbered SECTION 2.38 and to <br /> read as follows: <br /> SEC. 2. 38. ISSUANCE OF CITATIONS. <br /> Subd. 1. Except as otherwise prov ided by statute , only a peace <br /> off icer and part-time peace of f icer may: <br /> (1) l�sk a person receiving a citation to give a written promise <br /> to appear in court; or <br /> (2) �ake a person into custody as permitted by Minnesota Statutes <br /> 629.34 ( 1986) . <br /> Subc3. 2. The following City individuals may issue citations in <br /> lieu of arrest or continued detention for violations of the City Code. <br /> Areas of jurisdiction will be contained in City Policy as set forth in <br /> resolution for�a by the City Council. <br /> (a) P�ace Officers and Part-time Peace Officers <br /> (b) Reserve Officers <br /> (c) Community Service Officers <br /> (d) Zoning Administrator <br /> (e) Assistant Zoning Administrator <br /> (f) Building Inspector <br /> (g) Public Works Director <br /> Section 2. Effective Date. This ordinanc� shall be in force and <br /> effective upon publication. <br /> Section 3. Publication.
