� MINUTES OF THE ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING Monday,November 26,2012 7:00 o'clock p.m. (4. #I2-3587 BAUER DESIGNBUILD,INC., 450 OLD CRYSTAL BAYROAD NORTH, Continued) amendment which extinguishes the building removal requirement contingent upon the forthcoming site plan approval. John Menge,JEM Technical, stated they would like to expand their business and bring their machine shop to the campus. The building is a very satisfactory building for JEM's uses. The building currently has two 5-ton cranes inside,which is helpful to move equipment around and the building has a number of years of life left to it. Menge indicated their plan is to make the building more appealing to the surrounding neighborhood and also to utilize the structure more fully with the machine shop. The machine shop is presently located in a building that consists of 12,000 square feet and they are lacking space. JEM Technical is investing$1.5 million in new equipment and they plan on making a substantial investment in the business over the coming years. Menge indicated a few changes to the building have already been made, such as new windows and another service door/loading dock on the north side of the building. The architectural panels increase the R-value of the building. In addition,a new roof will be put on the building,which will also increase the R-value of the building. The shop will be air-conditioned and heated for the employees. Franchot asked if the applicant is okay with Staff's recommendation for the ten additional trees. Menge indicated they are and that their intent is to make the site attractive and appealing. Mayor McMillan opened the public hearing at 7:15 p.m. There were no public comments regarding this application. Mayor McMillan closed the public hearing at 7:15 p.m. McMillan commented this is a great use of the building. Rahn concurred that it is a great use of the building and that the exterior panels will make the building more attractive.
