b. The base width dimension is 50 percent or more of the greatest width <br /> of the sign. . <br /> c. The sign copy area shall have a minimum clearance of 20 inches <br /> above ground level. <br /> d. The sign copy area shall be completely enclosed within the <br /> monument materials. <br /> e. No portion of the sign or sign structure shall exceed ten feet above <br /> ground IeveL <br /> f. The monument sign base shall be constructed of materials similar in <br /> appearance to those of the principal structure and shall consist of <br /> brick, natural stone, stucco, textured cast stone, or integrally colored <br /> concrete masonry units. The structure surrounding the face of the <br /> sign from the base to the top of the sign must be solid, continuous, <br /> and consist of the base materials or complementary materials that <br /> match the appearance and color of the principal building. <br /> g. No. 70 3rd series,§ 1, 4-26-2010) <br /> Sec. 78-1467. - Signs in R districts. <br /> Within R districts, the following signs are permitted: <br /> (1) Nameplates. <br /> a. One nameplate sign for each dwelling, and such sign shall not <br /> exceed two square feet in area per surface, and no sign shall be so <br /> constructed as to have more than finro surFaces. <br /> b. One nameplate sign for each dwelling group of six or more units, and <br /> such sign shall not exceed six square feet in area per surface, and no <br /> sign shall be so constructed as to have more than finro surFaces. <br /> c. One nameplate sign for each permitted use or use by conditional <br /> permit other than residential, and such sign shall not exceed 12 <br /> square feet in area per surface. <br /> (2) Illumination. Symbols, statues, sculptures and integrated architectural <br /> features on nonresidential buildings may be illuminated by floodlights <br /> provided the direct source of light is not visible from the public right-of-way or <br /> adjacent residential district. <br /> (3) Setbacks.Any sign over one-half square foot shall be set back at least five <br /> feet from any property line.
