MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 9, 1996 <br />• ( #8) #2164 DOUGLAS J. OLSON, 2601 WEST LAFAYETTE ROAD - <br />VARIANCES - RESOLUTION #3760 <br />The applicant was present along with Jim Smith from Concept Landscape. <br />Gaffron reported that the 1 -1/2 acre lot is located in the 1 acre zoning. There are homes <br />on both sides and the total lot encroaches the average lakeshore setback due to its <br />location on a point. <br />The proposed change is to the roof line from a 3:12 pitch to a 12:12 pitch around the <br />entire house. An addition is also proposed to the side of the home away from the lake. <br />Part of the 2 -story addition is located in the 0 -75' zone with the roof pitch. Most of the <br />proposed work is over existing hardcover. An entry is also being revised. <br />Gaffron reported that the hardcover exists at 9.1% in the 0 -75' setback. There is a <br />proposal to remove a portion of the driveway to create a loop. The hardcover in the 75- <br />250' setback is proposed at 30.25% for a 217 s.f reduction from 31.0 %. The variances <br />required are for hardcover in the 0 -75' and 75 -250' setbacks, lakeshore setback, and <br />average lakeshore setback. The latter is not an issue as there are no views affected. The <br />Planning Commission recommended approval with removal of hardcover in the 0 -75' <br />setback. The lot coverage is at 8.8 %. <br />• Olson said he was satisfied with the resolution as presented in the package. <br />Goetten noted the uniqueness of the property and had no problem with the proposal. <br />Jabbour moved, Kelley seconded, to approve Resolution #3760. Vote: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />The motion includes the removal of hardcover in the 75 -250' setback. <br />( #9) #2166 JANET KIERNAN, 1491 SHORELINE DRIVE - VARIANCES - <br />RESOLUTION #3761 <br />The applicant was present. <br />Gaffron reported that the property is located on the sharp curve east of CoRd 15 by <br />Bracketts Point. It was concluded during the review by the Planning Commission that <br />the triangular piece of property whose ownership was questioned is indeed owned by <br />Kiernan. Gaffron noted that the possible change to the curve of the roadway by the <br />County might not occur. <br />• <br />
