MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 8,1997 <br />0 ( #26 Canopy For Public Works Building Continued) <br />Goetten asked if there were other options that could be pursued. Gappa indicated that <br />changing the door location would cost as much. <br />Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />( #27) 1998 POLICE SERVICES CONTRACT WITH THE CITIES OF <br />MINNETONKA BEACH AND SPRING PARK <br />Moorse reported of the need to renew the contract for police services. <br />( #27 - 1998 Police Services Contract - Continued) <br />Flint moved, Peterson seconded, to approve the renewal of the Police Service Contracts <br />with the cities of Minnetonka Beach and Spring Park for 1998 and to authorize the <br />Mayor to sign the contract documents. Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />Jabbour asked Moorse about the meeting held with the Wright County Humane Society. <br />Moorse said the society is open to considering a joint effort. <br />Jabbour informed Council that Moorse was talking with other cities regarding building a <br />facility which would be run by the Wright County Humane Society. He feels the society <br />is in tune with the City's beliefs in handling of animals. Jabbour said he fears getting <br />into a situation with another agency where their philosophy in handling animals is <br />contrary to that of the City. <br />Jabbour asked that the Council be part of the solution for determining a location and <br />facility. Moorse indicated that the facility would be operated by the Wright County <br />Humane Society and would replace the existing facility in operation in Delano. The <br />society is also looking for another facility in the western portion of Wright County. The <br />easterly facility would serve Orono and other lake area cities. <br />( * #28) REAPPOINTMENT OF JAMES WHITE TO PARK COMMISSION <br />Goetten moved, Peterson seconded, to approve the appointment of James White to a <br />three year term on the Parks, Open Space, and Trails Commission. The term will begin <br />on January 1, 1998 and will end on December 31, 2000. Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />( * #29) DONATION TO ORONO POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Goetten moved, Peterson seconded, to accept the donation of bullet resistant vest from — <br />Mr. Reed. Vote: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />31 <br />
