S-P TESTING, INC. Steven B. Schirmers — MPCA Cert. No. 627
951 Katydid Lane NE • St. Michael, MN 55376 • (612) 497-3566
June 12 , 1992
Dave Peterson
2625 Fox Street
Orono, Henn. Co. , MN
This On-Site Sewage Treatment System is Designed for a Type 1, three
bedroom home in accordance with the tilinnesota Pollution Control
Agency Chapter 7080 and local ordinances .
This site has an existing failing system with suface discharge. A
site evaluation was completed with soil borings indicating a
seasonally high water table from 12" to 46" deep. To adequately
treat septic effluent, a Pressurized 4ound System would need to
be installed. This site has slopes greater than 6$ up to 20 .
City Codes require a mound to be located on slopes of 6$ or less .
State code will allow greater slope but this will require area
greater than what is available on this site . The on]y system that
will meet codes would be holding tanks with the effluent hauled
off site. At todays prices this will cost approx. $3600 . 00 to
$4000 . 00/year with low water use facilities installed throughout
the house.
A request for an alternative system is needed. A Class 1 Aerobics
Treatment system, Multi-Flo Wastewater Treatment System is
available with shallow trenches 18" deep. The system requires
to be serviced 2 times a year. A 2 year service contract comes
with the purchase of the unit. After the 2 year period, the
Home Owner will be required to carry a service contract at a
cost of $100 . 00/yr. (1992 ' s price) with a report to the City,
MPCA, Multi-Flo & the Home Owner. The Multi-Flo unit will be
Model FTBO .b . These systems treat the BOD & TSS with a removal
of 96$ to 98 & Virus removal is greater than 99$ . To install
the Multi-Flo unit a lift pump will be needed in th lower level
to keep the tanks shallow. A 500 to 750 gallon septic tank will
need to be installed as a trash trap ahead of the unit.
An area east of the house is to be protected for future use. This
would be a mound system for approx. 200 gal/day which is approx.
50 reduction in water use. If this site is used, the well will
need to be relocated.
All neighboring wells are located greater than 100 ' away from the
proposed treatment area & 50 ' away on this site.
CONT ' D
