• <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 13, 1989 <br />RECYCLING CONTINUED <br />Increase List of Recyclables - If more items can be recycled, <br />there will be a lesser amount of buriable wastes. Plastics are <br />becomming more recyclable. Polka Dot Recycling will be accepting <br />the PET (pop bottles) plastic and the HDPE (milk jugs) plastic in <br />the Spring of 1989. Initially, these will only be accepted at <br />the drop -off centers, but it is hoped that they will be <br />incorporated into the curbside pick up in the near future. <br />Mayor Grabek thanked Ms. Vigoren for her information and <br />expressed his opinion regarding the importance of recycling. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES* <br />It was moved by Mayor Grabek, seconded by Councilmember <br />Peterson, to approve the Minutes of the February 27, 1989 Regular <br />Council Meeting. Motion, Ayes =4, Nays =O, Motion passed. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />Planning Commission Representative, Sara Moos, was present <br />but had no comments at this time. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />There were no public comments. <br />• ZONING ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br />#1363 ROGER AND BECKY BERRY <br />1392 BALDUR PARK ROAD <br />VARIANCE <br />RESOLUTION #2587 <br />The applicants were not present, however, Mr. Rod Lund, the <br />Berry's developer, was present on their behalf. <br />Acting City Administrator Gerhardson provided a brief <br />explanation of this application. The Berrys were requesting <br />variances for hardcover and average lakeshore setback, as well as <br />a conditional use permit, in order to construct a new residence. <br />Councilmember Goetten mentioned the fact that she had seen 2 <br />piles of dirt located near the lakeshore on the Berrys property. <br />She asked Mr. Lund if he knew why it was there. Mr. Lund replied <br />that he did not know, but would look into the matter. Goetten <br />asked Mr. Lund to keep the City informed. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, to adopt Resolution <br />#2587 approving the variances for hardcover and average lakeshore <br />setback, as well as the conditional use permit, per staff <br />recommendations.
