became black with sandy loam textures down to 16 inches with 1 percent fine dark brown
redox concentrations starting at 13 inches. From 16 to 21 inches soils were sandy with 20
percent dark yellowish brown redox concentrations within a brown matrix.
Saturation was observed at the surface of the wetland point along with two secondary
hydrology indicators. Only one secondary hydrology indicator was noted at the upland
sample point.
SER delineated Wetland 1 as a Type 3, PEMF, Shallow Marsh.
Wetland 2
Wetland 2 is located at the southern end of the parcel and is fringe wetland of Lake Minnetonka
(L 1 UBH). Dominant vegetation within Wetland 2 was narrow-leaf cattail, lake sedge and reed
canary grass.
Sample Transect 2-1
The vegetation transition zone along Sample Transect 2-1 at the wetland point started
with a dominance of reed canary grass, bittersweet nightshade (Solanum dulcamara,
FAC), and narrow-leaf cattail within the herb layer and elderberry (Sambucus
canadensis, FACV within the shrub layer.
The vegetation transition to upland yielded a dominance of reed canary grass, and Canada
goldenrod (Solidago canadensis, FACU) in the herb layer and elderberry in the shrub
layer. The dominance test was met for the upland sample point.
Soils at SP 2-1 WET were black down to 15 inches and transitioned to a gleyed matrix
down to 20 inches. There were 10 percent dark yellowish brown redox concentrations
from 10 to 15 inches within the profile. Textures were silt loams that transitioned to more
sandy and clayey textures starting at 15 inches.
Soils at SP 2-1 UP were very dark grayish brown with a sandy loam texture down to 14
inches. Soils became black and yellower in hue with 1 percent gleyed mottles and 5
percent brown redox concentrations from 14 to 17 inches. From 17 to 20 inches soils had
a gleyed matrix with no mottles or redox. Textures from 14 inches to 20 inches were
sandy clay loams.
Saturation was present at 10 inches below the surface at the wetland point and 15 inches
at the upland point. Two secondary indicators of hydrology were also noted at the
wetland point. Only one secondary hydrology indicator was noted at the upland sample
point.
SER delineated Wetland 2 as a Type 3, PEMC, Shallow Mars6 wetland that is fringe to
a lacustrine system to the south and west.
DISCUSSION
Svoboda Ecological Resources 1165 Fendale Road
Projcct No.:2014-026 4 Robert Brook
