Does this net approach appease the MCWD to avoid the erosion control permit requirement?
Best,
T.J.
From:Terrence Chastan-Davis [mailto:tchastan-davis@minnehahacreek.or]
Sent:Tuesday,August 23, 2016 10:38 AM
To:TJ Majdecki<TJ@murphycodesin.com>
Cc: Pat Nelson <Pat@murphycodesin.com>; Raino Niemela <raino@jnbuilt.com>; Melanie Curtis
<MCurtis@ci.orono.mn.us>; Christine Mattson (Orono) <cmattson@ci.orono.mn.us>
Subject: RE: project at 2480 Casco Point Road, Orono
Good morning Tj,
Thank you for submitting the proposed project for our review. After reviewing the proposed project plans a MCWD
permit will be required for erosion control. The area of disturbance will be greater than 5,000 square feet according to
the submitted hardcover sheet. Attached you will find the required application materials.
It also appears that the proposed retaining wall will be within the 100-year floodplain zone (931.5').The District's
Shoreline and Streambank Stabilization and Floodplain Alteration rules will also be triggered. In order for the wall to be
permitted under our Shoreline and Streambank Stabilization rule, an engineer will need to provide documentation that
the wall will withstand expected ice, wave, and earth pressures according to section 10 of the rule (see attached). We
would also like to know the dimensions of the proposed wall.
The MCWD will need a calculation of the total floodplain fill and information on how this fill will be compensated within
the 100-year floodplain per the Districts Floodplain Alteration rule (see attached).Since a Floodplain Alteration permit
will be required, the project will also need to go through a two week public comment period to properties that are
within 600 feet of the proposed project. The public notice period cannot start until we receive an updated site survey
with the required documents.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Terrence Chastan-Davis
District Representative
Minnehaha Creek Watershed District
15320 Minnetonka Blvd
Minnetonka, MN 55345
952-641-4581
1,_ -
;,,;
;<

MINIfHAMA CREK
YYAtER$itEb tIl$llZlCf
From:TJ Majdecki [mailto:TJ@murphycodesin.com]
Sent: Friday, August 19, 2016 10:22 AM
To:Terrence Chastan-Davis<tchastan-davis@minnehahacreek.or>
2
