MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JUNE 13, 1988 <br />BOHNS POINT FEASIBILITY STUDY <br />RESOLUTION <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained the issue to <br />determine if the Council desires to undertake a <br />feasibility study based on a petition received regarding <br />widening Bohns Point Road. In addition, to determine <br />what interest the Council has, if any, on the public <br />takeover of Bohns Point Circle,, which is currently <br />privately owned but publicly maintained. Should the City <br />choose to do any public work on the Circle portion of <br />the road, the City would by necessity have to take it <br />over. He noted that the petition represents 51% of the <br />street frontage property owners. <br />Councilmember Goetten voiced concern with the City -, <br />dealing with private /public roads in future planning and <br />arbitrarily taking over the private roads. <br />Acting Mayor Callahan stated he had no desire to take <br />over Bohns Point Circle. In addition, he was not sure <br />the road needed to be widened. Therefore, he felt <br />Council should reject the request for the feasibility <br />study. <br />Councilmember Goetten asked if the Ulrich project was <br />responsible in part for upgrading the road if needed <br />when the project was completed? <br />• City Administrator Bernhardson stated that Ulrich had <br />agreed to repair damage done to the roads from the <br />project construction. <br />Public Works Director Gerhardson stated that the Ulrich <br />project caused very minor damage to the road. <br />It was moved by Acting Mayor Callahan, seconded by <br />Councilmember Sime, that the City Council chooses not to <br />undertake the feasibility study. Motion, Ayes 4, Nays <br />0. <br />MAYOR'S REORT: <br />COUNCILMEMBER SELECTION PROCESS <br />Acting Mayor Callahan explained the issue of selecting a <br />Councilmember to replace the resigning Councilmember <br />Sime. Staff has drafted a letter to send to the <br />interested applicants. <br />City Administrator Bernhardson recommended July 1, 1988 <br />be the deadline for applications. <br />1A <br />.g <br />
