• MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JUNE 13, 1988 <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to approve the Minutes of the May <br />23, 1988 Regular Council meeting as submitted. Motion, <br />Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to approve the Minutes of the May <br />18, 1988 Reconvened Board of Review meeting as <br />submitted. Motion, Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />PARR COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />PARR USAGE SURVEY <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained the request <br />to authorize conducting a survey to determine the Parks <br />and Recreation needs for the City of Orono. <br />Councilmember Peterson asked why the cost for the survey <br />would come from the general fund rather than the Park <br />fund? <br />Public Works Director Gerhardson stated that the Park <br />Dedication Fund states very clearly the uses for the <br />• fund monies, and a survey is not among those uses., <br />Councilmember Sime felt that $2,500 to conduct the <br />survey was excessive. <br />Public Works Director Gerhardson explained that the <br />$2,500 cost includes copying, mailing, and return mail <br />to approximately 2,700 households.- <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, to deny the request. <br />No second, motion failed. <br />Councilmembers Goetten and Peterson had no problem with <br />conducting the survey, but felt it could be done at a <br />lower cost. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Peterson, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to table the request pending <br />alternative ideas. Motion,-Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />LAKE MINNETONKA CONSERVATION DISTRICT <br />-LMCD Representative JoEllen Hurr was present. She <br />stated that Eugene Stroman has been hired as the new <br />w LMCD Executive Director effective July 1, 1988. Mr. <br />µ Stroman comes from the St. Paul Suburban Chamber of <br />Commerce and has worked with the Minneapolis` <br />• Aquatennial and St. Paul Winter Carnival. He is strong <br />in public relations and communications which is needed <br />within the LMCD. Mr. Stroman will be visiting the area. <br />City Councils in September or October. <br />3 <br />
