• MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD MARCH 14, 1988 <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RESIGNATION - PAUL TAYLOR* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to accept the resignation of Mr. <br />Paul Taylor as Planning Commission Member effective <br />March 1, 1988, and to direct staff to prepare a <br />resolution of appreciation for Council review and <br />approval at a later date. In addition, staff is <br />directed to review the files for residents who have <br />expressed an interest in serving on the Planning <br />Commission and to submit-those names to Council at a <br />later date. Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />UTILITY RATE INCREASE - LONG LAKE CUSTOMERS IN ORONO* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to adjust the water rates to <br />Orono customers served by the Long Lake water system <br />from $2.25 to $2.50 per 1000 gallons effective January <br />1, 1988. Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />ADMINISTRATOR'S INFORMATION* <br />It was moved by Councilmember. Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to accept Acting City <br />Administrator Gerhardson's Information regarding: 4635 <br />• Tonkaview, 1160 North Arm Drive, 4220 Sixth Avenue <br />North, 200 Hollander Road, Comprehensive Plan #2 Status <br />Report, and Goal Setting. Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT: <br />1972 SHADYWOOD ROAD ( Nehring) <br />City Attorney Barrett reported that the Nehring matter <br />is currently in trial. The prosecutions case was <br />presented today and the defense will present its case <br />tomorrow. He noted that the prosecution had a wildlife <br />expert witness from the University of Minnesota who <br />testified that this type of feeding of animals is not <br />good in terms of animal health or safety. He expects a <br />verdict in the next day or two. <br />COMMENDATIONS: <br />40 <br />Councilmember Sime asked if there was any discussion of <br />the effects of human health involved? <br />City Attorney Barrett stated that mention was made <br />regarding creating "swimmers itch ". <br />Mayor Grabek noted for the press the letters of <br />appreciation and commendation regarding the Police force <br />from residents included in their Council meeting packet. <br />
