MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JULY 27, 1987 <br />WATER RATES - WAYZATA SYSTEM <br />Councilmember Goetten recomended that the Orono <br />residents in the Chevy Chase -North Ferndale - Northgate <br />Area be advised of the water rate increase to City of <br />Orono for water purchased from the City of Wayzata and <br />the City's efforts to keep the rates down. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by <br />Councilmember Sime, to approve the contract water rates <br />charged by the City of Wayzata for water customers in <br />Orono Area #3 at $2.50 per customer and $1.19 per 1,000 <br />gallons per quarter, effective with the September 30, <br />1987 billing. Further moved and seconded that an <br />increase to the Orono consumers in Area #3 is not <br />necessary at this time but the rates will be reviewed at <br />the end of the year, as usual. Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />POLICE OFFICER RECOGNITION* <br />RESOLUTIONS #2223 TO #2228 <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, that the Orono City Council adopt <br />Resolutions #2223 to #2228 recognizing the excellent <br />efforts of Police Officer Chip English and Reserve <br />Officers Peter Achey, Rick Denneson, C.J. Gonsior, Randy <br />O'Brien and Nathalie Welch for the excellent efforts <br />leading to arrests following a break -in. Motion, Ayes 5, <br />Nays 0. <br />2160 WAYZATA BOULEVARD - FUEL LEAKAGE* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to accept staff's informantion <br />regarding the fuel leakage at 2160 Wayzata Boulevard. <br />Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />ENFORCEMENT POLICY - BOAT RAMPS* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, that Council accept staff's <br />information regarding its enforcement policy as it <br />relates to specifically boat ramps as hardcover in the <br />0 -75' zone. Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />AUTHORITY TO HIRE PART -TIME OFFICER* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, that subject to successful <br />completion of physical and psychological testing that <br />Mr. William Breimhorst be hired at $6.50 /hour plus <br />prorata benefits effective as early as 1 August 1987. <br />This would be for an average maximum of 24 hours per <br />week and will terminate upon Officer Kirnyczuk's return <br />to work or December 31, 1987 which ever is earlier. <br />Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />13 <br />
