MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD APRIL 14, 1986 <br />SPRING CLEAN UP - MAY 3RD AND MAY 10TH* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Frahm, seconded by <br />Councilmember Hammerel, that the Orono annual Spring <br />Clean Up be scheduled for Saturday, May 3rd and <br />Saturday, May 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Motion, <br />Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />TRAPPING PERMIT - 1700 SHORELINE DRIVE <br />Council reviewed the application for a limited leghold <br />trap (underwater trapline) permit from Irwin Jacobs, <br />1700 Shoreline Drive, for a period of one year. <br />Mayor Butler questioned the time period of one year <br />stating that the traps could be potentially dangerous if <br />forgotten about. <br />Councilmember Grabek concurred with Mayor Butler stating <br />that he felt this type of trap should be eliminated from <br />populated areas as they can be dangerous to pets & <br />children. He stated that there have been complaints <br />about traps being allowed previously and that they are <br />not frequently checked. He noted that there should be <br />consideration of'signage and that there is alternative <br />methods to protect trees that should be addressed such <br />as screening. He suggested approval of the permit for <br />30 to 90 days and then reviewal. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Grabek, seconded by <br />Councilmember Adams, to approve the Trap Permit for a <br />period of 90 days only. Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />ADMINISTRATOR'S INFORMATION* <br />It was moved by Councilmember Frahm, seconded by <br />Councilmember Hammerel, to accept City Administrator <br />Bernhardson's Information report regarding Big Island, <br />Comprehensive Storm Water Management Plan, and Traffic <br />Review of Hwy. 12 /Willow Dr. Intersection. Motion, Ayes <br />4, Nays 0. <br />VANEECKHOUT BUILDING CORPORATION REQUEST <br />Assistant Zoning Administrator Gaffron explained that a <br />letter of request arrived during City Administrator <br />Bernhardson's absence from VanEeckhout Building <br />Corporation to connect to Long Lake's sewer system. He <br />noted that he prepared the memo for Councils' <br />information only and upon City Administrator <br />Bernhardson's return a meeting will be set up with Mr. <br />VanEeckhout for review. <br />Mr. VanEeckhout was present for this matter and noted <br />that the property in question is adjacent to the City of <br />Long Lake and is a very "difficult site to work with ". <br />13 <br />
