MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD JANUARY 27, 1986 <br />CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT: <br />City Engineer Cook was not present and there was no <br />report. <br />MAYOR'S REPORT: <br />CABLE TV REPORT: <br />Mayor Butler noted that she would not be able to attend <br />the February 10th and 24th Council meetings. <br />In addition to Mayor Butlers comment, Councilmember <br />Hammerel noted that he would be unable to attend the <br />February 24th and March 10th Council meetings. <br />There was no Cable TV report. <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT: <br />WEST FERNDALE /COUNTY ROAD 15 <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained the request <br />from Mr. Henry Kingman, 1185 West Ferndale Rd., <br />regarding the design of the intersection which allows <br />persons who are heading from east bound 15 to east West <br />Ferndale to exit at a high rate of speed and continue on <br />West Ferndale at that high speed. <br />Public Works Coordinator reveiwed a diagram of the <br />problem area and possible solutions. He noted that he <br />has had another complaint regarding the intersection <br />other than Mr. Kingman. <br />Councilmember Hammerel stated that he did not feel that <br />there was a big problem with the intersection in order <br />to justify the expense. <br />Council pointed out some sight line hazards at that <br />intersection. <br />Council instructed staff to confer with Hennepin County <br />and Chief Kilbo regarding safety and sight line problems <br />and report back at the March 10, 1986 Council meeting. <br />HEALTH INSURANCE FOR RETIREES <br />City Administrator Bernhardson reviewed staff's <br />recommended policy regarding health insurance for <br />retirees and permanently disabled. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Hammerel, seconded by <br />Mayor Butler, that the Council give tentative approval <br />to the policy as outlined above and that a resolution be <br />placed on the consent agenda following review of the <br />policy by the City Attorney.
