0 ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES FOR NOVEMBER 22, 1999 (Park Commission Applicant Interviews, Continued) Rick Meyers, Navarre, stated that he is happy with the progress being made on the parks in Orono and the efforts to amend the comprehensive plan to reflect the changing philosophy of the City as it relates to parks. Meyers commented that people tend to identify with the neighborhood parks and that he envisions the parks becoming a community focal point for the various neighborhoods. Meyers indicated that he is willing to continue to pursue the Dakota Rail to Trail project, noting that he is a member of the ad hoc committee for this project. Meyers commented that the addition of a bike/hiking trail in this area would be a good asset to the community. Flint thanked Meyers for his efforts in working with the City, noting that the City is interested in getting some participation from the residents in the Navarre area. Flint noted that the Parks Commission acts as an advisory board, with the City Council having the final authority. Meyers commented that the Parks Commission and City Council need to work together towards a common goal. Meyers stated he is willing to abide by the decisions of the City Council. • Mayor Jabbour thanked Meyers for appearing before the City Council. PLANNING COMMISSION COMMENTS - Bill Stoddard, Representative Bill Stoddard stated he would be available for questions at tonight's meeting. Mayor Jabbour commended the Planning Commission for their fine efforts on the Adult Use Ordinance recently adopted by the City of Orono.
