ANNUAL POLICE REPORT, Continued)
of the Dakota Trail by individuals and different organizations that are utilizing the roads and trails for
biking and other events.
Printup asked what the Police Department is seeing as it relates to the increased heroine usage.
Farniok indicated they are seeing heroin usage increasing due to people becoming more addicted to pain
killers and then turning to heroin as a substitute. Famiok stated typically very small quantities are
involved which makes it difficult to capture the dealers and/or users. Heroin is also fairly cheap
compared to other drugs.
McMillan asked how Three Rivers Park feels about the increased demand for the Dakota Trail by the
various organizations.
Farniok stated Three Rivers has left usage of the trail for special everitsup to the various cities. Orono is
not seeing the impacts that other cities are seeing such as Spring Park and Mound.
The City Council took no formal action on this item.
•
PLANNING COMMISSION COMMENTS — DENISE LESKiNEN, REPRESENTATIVE •
Leskinen stated she had nothing to report but would be available for questions.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
None
PLANNING DEPARTMENT REPORT
*6. #12 -3552 JIM AND SHERRY WHITE, 3516 IVY PLACE — VARIANCE — RESOLUTION
NO. 6144
Bremer moved, Franchot seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 6144, a Resolution Granting
Variances to Municipal Zoning Code Section 78 -1288, for the property located at 3516 Ivy Place.
VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0.
7.
