11 <br />MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, July 26, 2010 <br />7:00 o'clock p.m. • <br />(MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT, Continued) <br />Murphy stated he has responded to the local newspapers in regard to two letters that were published in the <br />local newspapers concerning some recent applications before the City Council. Murphy indicated he has <br />made a personal decision that he is not going to accept those types of innuendos and has written a letter in <br />response to those accusations. Murphy commented the majority of the information that was contained in <br />the letters was incorrect. <br />Bremer commented she enjoyed the Long Lake meeting last Monday and that the time spent by Police <br />Chief Farniok at the National Police Academy this past year has had a positive impact on his overall <br />performance. <br />Loftus noted Long Lake will be accepting input from the public on August 3`d and that a decision will be <br />made August 17 concerning tonight's earlier meeting. <br />CITY ENGINEER'S! REPORT <br />Kellogg stated the Willow Drive overlay and the guardrail replacement projects should. be commenced in <br />the next two weeks weather permitting. The mill and overlay on Willow should take approximately five' <br />days and the guardrail project will take about three days. <br />White stated the Casco Point project looks very good but that he has received some comments that people • <br />are driving faster since the road has been improved. White stated in his opinion the people are now <br />driving the speed limit; whereas before, due to the poor condition of the road, they were traveling 10 <br />miles below the posted speed limit. <br />*6. ACCEPT QUOTATIONS FOR MANHOLE AND LIFT STATION GROUTING <br />Franchot moved, MacMillan seconded, to accept the quotation in the amount of $6,046.00 from <br />Infrastructures Technologies, Inc. (Infratech) of Rogers, Minnesota, and to amend the 2010 Sewer <br />Capital Outlay Fund budget to reflect this expenditure. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />*7. EMERGENCY REPAIR OF LIFT STATION 22 (3882 SHORELINE DRIVE) <br />Franchot moved, MacMillan seconded, to accept the emergency replacement of Lift Station 22 in <br />the amount of $23,000.00. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT <br />*8. UPDATE INVESTMENT POLICY — RESOLUTION NO. 5952 <br />Franchot moved, MacMillan seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5952, a Resolution to Amend <br />the City of Orono Investment Policy.
