MACKINNON, "3500" WA TER TO WN R OAD, Continued) <br />MacMillan pointed out the City Engineer has noted there is a possibility that retaining walls may be <br />constructed in the back yards of the eastern lots due to the drop -off and asked whether Staff is okay with <br />that. <br />Kellogg stated that was more of an observation to Staff than an engineering comment. <br />MacMillan asked whether Staff is okay with the retaining walls. <br />Curtis indicated there are different areas of conservation easement where Staff would expect preservation <br />of'slopes and trees and that depending on the location of the future homes, there may be outdoor living <br />space that can be leveled out outside of the conservation easement. Staff has made an effort to protect all <br />the environmental areas that were identified in the preliminary plat. <br />Murphy moved, Bremer seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5950, a Resolution Approving the <br />Plat of Kintyre Two for the property at 3500 Watertown Road. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />*5. #10 -3481 NICHOLAS AND JODEEN KOZLAK,1635 BOHNS POINT ROAD — <br />VARIANCE RENEWAL — RESOLUTION NO. 5951 <br />Franchot moved, MacMillan seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION NO. a Resolution Amending <br />• <br />Resolution No. 5860, Renewing the Variances Approved in File No. 09 -2481 and Adding Hardcover <br />Calculation. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT, CONTINUED <br />LaQuey, P.O. Box 94, Crystal Bay, requested no parking signs be placed on the west side of Railroad <br />Avenue for the paved portion from County Road 51 to Spates Avenue and signs designating resident only <br />parking on the east side. LaQuey also requested that 15 mile per hour speed limit signs be placed along <br />Railroad Avenue. <br />Brenner asked whether the speed limit on that road is 15 miles per hour. <br />LeQuay indicated to his knowledge it is not and that he is not aware of what the speed limit is in the <br />area. LeQuay asked whether Orono has a residential speed limit law. <br />White stated the police department is involved in setting the speed limit on the city roads in conjunction <br />with the City Engineer. <br />MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br />Murphy noted the Long Lake Fire Department wants to erect a memorial at the fire station. Murphy <br />distributed an artist rendering of the proposed memorial. <br />{ <br />® Murphy indicated he attended the V4V board of directors meeting approximately two weeks ago. The <br />V4V Board was established to oversee the irrevocable trust for Big Island. Since 2007, the board has <br />distributed almost $630,000 in grants out of that fund. <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />
