MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, August 27, 2007 <br />7:00 o'clock p.m. <br />(MAYOR/COUNCIL REPORT, Continued) <br />number of residents is under - counted, the City would not receive the appropriate amount of funding that <br />they are actually entitled to. White recommended the City utilize the software. <br />Mayor White commented there are a couple of eagles that reside on Big Island and that he has heard <br />from different residents that the eagles are being harassed since they are no longer a protected animal. <br />White suggested the City look at implementing some type of ordinance to help protect the wildlife in the <br />area. <br />Murphy stated a report on the City's roundabout will be contained in the Wednesday Star Tribune. <br />Moorse noted the City of Richfield is also installing a couple of roundabouts and that Planner Turner <br />has provided him with some educational materials, including DVDs, that people can watch on <br />roundabouts to help them familiarize themselves with how a roundabout works. <br />CITY ENGINEER'S REPORT <br />None <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT <br />*6. SERGEANT PROMOTIONS <br />Murphy moved, Bremer seconded, to promote Officer Scott Boris and Officer Tony Wittke to the <br />rank of Sergeant with a pay rate of $32.14 per hour, effective August 28, 2007 (Boris to have <br />seniority over Wittke). VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />*7. APPOINT ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT IN POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Murphy moved, Bremer seconded, to approve the hiring of Kelly Herzog as Administrative <br />Assistant with a starting pay of $18.00 per hour, effective September 10, 2007. This is a mid point <br />between Step 2 and Step 3 in pay level 4, with the understanding that the next increase in pay <br />would be to Step 3. VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />*8. APPOINT PART -TIME COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER <br />Murphy moved, Bremer seconded, to approve the hiring of Jason Barnes as a Part -time <br />Community Service Officer at $12.00 per hour (no other benefits), effective August 29, 2007. <br />VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />*9. REPLACE ROOF AT NAVARRE WATER TREATMENT PLANT <br />L' <br />Murphy moved, Bremer seconded, to approve the replacement of the Navarre Water Plant roof <br />by Home Exteriors of Minnetrista, at a cost of $7,827.75 to be funded from the Water Fund. • <br />VOTE: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br />PAGE 4 of 6 <br />
