MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Monday, January 14, 2008 <br />7:00 o'clock p.m. <br />(4. APPROVE STREET RECONSTRUCTION PLAN, Continued) <br />David Runkle, 2686 Casco Point, Road, noted Casco Point Road is scheduled to undergo total <br />reconstruction in the near future, and asked whether it would be possible to have the utilities buried in <br />conjunction with that work. Runkle noted there are costs associated with the above - ground utilities, <br />such as tree trimming and other maintenance and repair work, which would be eliminated if they were <br />buried. <br />White stated the City would look into that option and determine the costs associated with that. <br />Mayor White closed the public hearing x0-.17 p.m. <br />Murphy noted Casco Point Road would be completed in 2009 and 2010 but that Orono Orchard Road <br />would not be undergoing any work for a number of years. Murphy stated he did receive some public <br />comments regarding the City's bonding of these projects and that those citizens did not raise any <br />objections to those costs. <br />• <br />Rahn moved, McMillan seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5713, a Resolution Approving <br />Street Reconstruction Plan and Confirming Intent to Issue Bonds. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION COMMENTS — RALPH KEMPF, REPRESENTATIVE <br />Kempf stated he has heard that Tonka Bay is discussing the possibility of a trail and a connection to the <br />future Dakota Rail Trail along County Road 19. Kempf stated he would like the City Council to • <br />consider doing some improvements to the Navarre area in conjunction with that trail and to consider all <br />its options for the financing of those improvements. <br />White noted that the City Council has approved'of a County Road 19 trail grant application on tonight's <br />consent agenda: White stated the City has been meeting with the cities of Tonka Bay and Shorewood <br />regarding the County Road 19 Trail project and that the Council feels the trail improvements could be <br />done at the time the County upgrades the roads. <br />McMillan stated the desire for the trail is to connect the downtown area of each city to allow safe <br />pedestrian and bicycle traffic. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />None <br />ZONING ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT <br />*5. #07 -3324 ANN MAXFIELD, 4175 NORTH SHORE DRIVE — VARIANCE — <br />RESOLUTION NO. 5714 <br />Murphy moved, McMillan seconded, to adopt RESOLUTION NO. 5714, a Resolution Granting a <br />Variance for the Property Located at 4175 North Shore Drive.
