� 1 <br /> MTNUTES OF THE <br /> ORONO PLA.NN�ING COMIVIISSION MEETING <br /> Monday,J'une I9,2006 '� ���L�� <br /> ..,�., <br /> 6:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> There were no comments regarding this application. <br /> Rahn closed the public hearing at 7:44 p.m. <br /> Helpka stated the selection of the materials is somewhat driven by the existing building and how that <br /> could be improved and integrated with the new buildings. Helpka stated the material is basically a <br /> CMU masonry unit, which has been accepted by other cities as a brick material. Helpka stated they are � <br /> complying with the 67/33 ratio required in the City's ordinance. Helpka indicated they are proposing to <br /> use the reddish colored material as a highlight. <br /> Helpka illustrated the location of the existing building and the layout of the three new buildings. Helpka <br /> indicated the ne�v buildings are 33,000 square foot buildings and that the buildings will be geared more <br /> to�vards of�ce use,with one building being geared to�vards office/warehouse use. Helpka stated they <br /> would be using a burnished brick on the buildings as�vell. <br /> Kroeger inquired whether the signage shown in the renderings is coinpliant with the City's ordinance, <br /> Helpka stated it is. <br /> Jurgens stated quick brick is not brick and inquired whether it meets the City's requirement. <br /> Turner stated that is a determination Staff would like the Planning Commission to make. <br /> Jurgens stated it is still a concrete block, <br /> Helpka indicated the material is called quick brick and goes through a different finishing process than <br /> concrete. Helpka indicated it is 12 inches thick and can be installed quickly. Helpka stated they are <br /> currently using it in two medical office buildings and that Target has utilized this material in the newer <br /> Target stores, � <br /> Rahn inquired whether there rvould be grouted joints. <br /> Helpka stated there are grouted joints and that in his view fihey are brick. <br /> Gaffron inquired whether there are any buildings nearby that the Planning Comrnission members could <br /> revie�v, <br /> 1'AGIC 18 <br />
