Extend over sloping concrete topping at floor & up over <br /> curbs & up wall & at any steps in tile wall surface. Provide 1" grout over <br /> surface as per manuf. recomm. <br /> 5. Tile Cleaner - HMK P-241iquid stone soap, or equal. <br /> 6. Grout Joint Sealer - penetrating type all tile & marble as recomm. by grout <br /> & tile supplier. <br /> 7. Whirlpool/Tub mortar bed - latex type, non-shrink, high bond mortar <br /> bed; set tub in wet bed to form bond, verify bed thickness. <br /> 3.1 Execution <br /> 1. Field verify room dimensions. Tile layout to minimize tile cutting at <br /> edges, adjust spacing if required. Verify tile layout w/ Architect where <br /> questions of joint locations affect appearance; see plans for intended <br /> layouts. Provide proper substrate for laying tile, clean or remove any <br /> materials, dirt, etc. which would prevent a guaranteed quality installation. <br /> Repair/replace subfloor as required for a quality installation. Verify job <br /> conditions & substrate & report non-conforming conditions to Contractor <br /> prior to starting work. Remove all base trim & casing as required. Tile <br /> shall lay under adjacent base trim or shall butt dissimilar materials w/ <br /> 1/16" silicone caulk joint, color to match grout. Provide expansion joints; <br /> caulk joints to dissimilar surfaces, minimizing joint; & control joints as <br /> required & recomm. by TCA. <br /> 2. All work to be performed by experienced installers & according to highest <br /> industry standards. <br /> 3. Granite & Marble tile shall be laid w/ 1/16" tight joints, minimizing any <br /> lipage, 1/32" max. Other tile shall be laid w/ 1/8" joints max.; 12'x12" tile <br /> shall be installed w/ same dimensional requirements as Marble, <br /> uniformity permitting. Verify any non-conforming conditions which <br /> may prevent quality installation. <br /> 4. Verify new finish floor elevations all on sides of each installation to <br /> determine smooth alignment. <br /> 5. Install marble & granite as recomm. by the Marble Inst. of America; <br /> mortar bed at countertops, floors, showers; glass mesh mortar units @ <br /> built-up decks; mechanical anchors @ slab marble & granite. <br /> 6. Tile materials & installation requirements shall conform to Tile Council <br /> Handbook methods including: <br /> - Floor installations - Method #F141, cleavage membrane, 2.5 gauge <br /> metal lath, 3/4"-1 1/4" portland cement mortar bed, thinset w/ <br /> portland cement base & latex bonding agent by H.B.
