� � 5T0 I�I�; Stork Twin City Testing Corporation Materials Technology Proposed Addition at Residence 965 Edgewood Hills Road Page 8 of 9 Orono, Minnesota Stork Twin City Testing Corporation Project #3106831 We recommend that a vapor barrier be placed beneath the floor slab along with an interior and exterior drain-tile system to pick up groundwater moisture from beneath the slab and divert it away from the building. 4.5 Underground Utilities The soils encountered beneath the surficial topsoil layer in the borings appear to be suitable for the support of typical buried utilities. We anticipate the buried utilities will bear on either fill or glacial till, based on the subsurface data. Fill placed as utility bedding should be either crushed rock or a clean, well-graded granular soil. The utility contractor should provide the proper shoring equipment during utility construction due to the non-cohesive nature of the soils encountered by the boring logs. All backfill in underground utility trenches in building areas should be placed and compacted as recommended in Section 4.2 of this report. 5.0 CONSTRUCTION CONSIDERATIONS 5.1 Excavation Safety All excavations should comply with applicable O.S.H.A. standards. Excavation safety is the responsibility of the contractor. 5.2 Cold Weather Construction Construction during cold weather should be exercised with care. We have included a sheet entitled "Precautions for Excavating and Refilling During Cold Weather". This agreement shall be governed exclusively by the general terms and conditions of sale and performance of testing services by Stork Twin City Testing,Inc.a North Carolina business corporation("TCT")dd.02/04/2001. In no event shall Stork Twin City Testing,Inc.be liable for any consequential,special or indirect loss or any damages above the cost of the work. Payment is due within 30 days of invoice.
