MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MONDAY, September 24, 2001 <br />(Mayor /Council Report, Continued) <br />has visited the site numerous times. <br />Nygard stated to his understanding part of the problem may be that the City did receive a letter from the <br />developer back in May stating that all of the grading and drainage work had been completed when in <br />actuality work was not totally completed until sometime in July. <br />White indicated he has visited the site three times in response to the Clemons' concerns. <br />Nygard suggested that consideration be given to a three -way stop sign on Shadywood by the Super <br />America store. <br />White and Peterson indicated they would be opposed to a three -way stop at that location <br />Nygard stated something needs to be done to reduce the speed of traffic in that area. <br />White stated that area is posted 35 miles per hour, with the police regularly patrolling that road. <br />Mayor Peterson recommended Staff review the traffic records and number of accidents at this location <br />to determine whether some steps need to be taken in order to improve the traffic situation in this area. <br />Nygard indicated he would be interested in serving on the committee dealing with the Coffee Channel <br />• and snowmobile issue. <br />n <br />U <br />PUBLIC SERVICE DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br />None <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT <br />*( #12) HOUSING PLAN LANGUAGE CLARIFICATION <br />Flint moved, Sansevere seconded, to approve the revised language and goals in the Housing <br />Element of the City's Comprehensive Plan as proposed by Staff, with revisions if desired. <br />VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />( #13) LONG LAKE FIRE SERVICES BUDGET ADJUSTMENT <br />Sansevere stated he is satisfied that Orono is not paying for the awards based on the letter received from <br />Long Lake. Sansevere indicated it was his understanding that the $3,000 was a fixed cost every year. <br />Sansevere questioned why it exceeded $3,000. <br />Moorse stated at the time the $3,000 was discussed, it included salaries and not benefits. <br />PAGE 19 <br />
