He excretes into a tin pan in the toilet bowl and carries it out to the aarden . I asked him "Does the toilet flush?" He said it "doesn' t work too well" , and I noted the bowl was covered with black rust or scale and appeared to not have been cleaned in years . 4) Inspection of the basement plumbing I noted that new PVC piping connected the kitchen sink and bathroom plumbing to the septic system. No cleanout was installed where one should have been located in the basement. 5) Where the 4 " discharge line leaves the house it has no cover and is about 2" out of the ground for a distance of about 3 ' from the ' house . This will undoubtedly freeze and plug up in the winter and is obviously an improper installation. 6) Mr . Swift stated that Hyrd told him that installation had been approved by the City. This is absolutely not true . This septic system, in my opinion, is inadequate and does not meet Orono Code in most respects as to design, construction, or location, in that: a) The inside plumbing has no. cleanout should the line plug or freeze up . b) The house sewer is at the surface outside the house and will freeze up this winter . c) The septic tank is substandard in capacity, in the materialof which iti;s constructed, in it ' s location only 9 ' trom the well (code requires at least 50 ' ) , and we have no knowledge of the baffle system inside the tank. No inspection riser was found. d) We have no knowledge of the location or design of the "existing"- .drainfield. Note that Swift said the tank outlet is a 1" or l�" pipe . If there is existing drainfield it appears it would be less than 75 ' from the lake and within 75 ' of the well , meeting neither of these Code Standards .
