Co., MN
This site has an existing on-site sewage treatment system which is classified as failed
due to not meeting the required separation from the bottom of the system and the
saturated soil. The upgrade requirement is determined by the City of Orono.
This on-site sewage treatment system is designed for a Type 1, four bedroom home, in
accordance with the Minnesota Pollution Contro!Agency Chapter 7080 and local
ordinances.
The soifs on this site are SCS soils mapped - LmB - Lerdal loam. The seasonally
saturated soils were located at 12" to 22" (mottled soif). Due to the seasonally saturated
soils, a Pressurized Mound System will need to be instalted to treat septic efftuent. The
bottom of the treatment area must be located at least 3' above the saturated soils.
The soils at a depth of 12" have a percolation rate of 8.5 mpi.
The existing tank or tanks are old and deep and will most likely need to be abandoned,
pumped and filled with soil.
A pumping chamber will need to be instalfed to !ift the effluent to the treatment area.
The power supply and switches must be located outside the manhole and pumping
chamber in a weather proof enclosure. A waming device must be installed with a tight
and sound device, this is in case of a pump failure.
:-;:n
1
: .
 .
