H. Dahlmeier Engineering Inc. has been retained to provide structural engineering and construction <br /> review for the repairs followinb a fire for the resideiice at 3034 Casco Point Road, Orono, MN, as <br /> directed by Al Pribyl of Giertsen Companies. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> A fire destroyed much of the residence. <br /> Giertsen Companies retained J. H. Dahlmeier Engineering Inc. to provide structural engineering for the <br /> repair of the structure. <br /> Construction documents are J. H. Dahlmeier Engineering Inc. drawings S-1 through S-5 dated 10-15-97. <br /> CONSTRUCTION ISSUES <br /> Firenlace <br /> 1. On a joint inspection with the City Building Officials, it was determined that the firepiace was not <br /> constructed as previously thought and is non-conforming to Code. We mutually agreed to <br /> remove the masonry to mezzanine level to determine the best solution. <br /> 2. It was determined that the fireplace masonry is basically an outside shell with numerous stacks <br /> and flues. No separations exist between flues. <br /> 3.
