A summary of the <br /> inspection is below. <br /> Septic Tank Condition <br /> 1. Pumpout needed when septic tanks become full <br /> The septic system is non-compliant because it is failing by visibly discharging untreated sewage to the <br /> surface. This is considered to be an imminent public health threat. This discharge could have adverse <br /> effects to the environment including contamination of your well or neighboring wells. City Code <br /> requires that the system be repaired or replaced within 90 days upon the date of this letter. The sepric <br /> tanks must be used as holding tanks and pumped when full so as not to discharge untreated sewage to <br /> the surface. The septic system must be repaired or replaced by Decembei•31, 2000. <br /> Enclosed is a list of state licensed septic contractors who regularly work in Orono. Also enclosed is a <br /> fact sheet e�plaining how a septic system functions.
