09300 Tile <br /> A. Provide and install ceramic, porcelain and/or stone tile at floors, walls and ceilings as shown on the Drawings <br /> and specified herein: <br /> 1. Work of this Section includes provision and installation of tile backer (cement) board behind all wall and <br /> ceiling tile. <br /> 2. Provision of floor, wall and ceiling tile is by allowance — materials specified herein are for bidding <br /> purposes only. <br /> 3. Portion of work of this Section is under Alternate Bid — refer to Section 00420 SUPPLEMENTS TO BID, <br /> List of Alternate Bids: <br /> a. Base Bid: In-floor hydronic heating throughout the Master Bath—install nominal one inch (1") mortar <br /> bed to accommodate piping <br /> b. Alternate Bid: In-floor electrical heating system throughout the Master Bath — install nominal 5/8 inch <br /> mortar bed to accommodate electrical heating mat. Provision and installation of in-floor electrical <br /> heating system is work by the Electrical Subcontractor. <br /> B. Cement Board (Tile Backer Board): Aggregated Portland cement core; encased on both surfaces and edges <br /> with polymer-coated, glass fiber mesh: <br /> 1. Thickness: 1/2 inch, unless othervvise shown on the Drawings. <br /> 2. Screws: 8 ga.; corrosion-resistant; wafer head; with countersinking ribs. Provide of sufficient length to <br /> securely anchor wallboard to framing, and as recommended by the screw manufacturer. <br /> C. Tile Materials: <br /> 1. Tile: For bidding purposes, provision of tile is by the following allowances: <br /> a. Floors, walls and ceilings within Master Bath......$9.00/SF <br /> b. Floors, remainder...............................................$5.00/SF <br /> c. Walls and ceilings, remainder............................$3.00. <br /> 2. Mortar Beds: Self-leveling; cementitious; additives to achieve high performance compressive and flexural <br /> strength: <br /> a. Portland cement <br /> b. Water: Clean; potable <br /> c. Reinforcing: ANSI A108.1; steel mesh. <br /> 3. Sound Control Mat: Sheet-applied underlayment designed to reduce sound transmission; installed over <br /> wood subflooring, below mortar setting bed. <br /> 4. Waterproof Membrane: Bondable membrane material: <br /> a. "Deck Seal 1000 Membrane" (Southern Grouts & Mortars, Inc.); or equal and approved. <br /> 5. Joint Tape for Cement Board: Two inch (2") wide; alkali-resistant; glass fiber. <br /> 6. Thresholds: Marble; color as selected by the Architect; full door frame width; thickness equal to depth of <br /> tile and setting bed; one (1) long edge beveled down to thickness of adjacent flooring or as shown on the <br /> Drawings. <br /> 7. Setting Mortars and Adhesives: <br /> a. Dry-Set Mortar: ANSI A118.1; Portland cement and sand, with water-retentive admixtures; factory- <br /> mixed ' <br /> b. Latex-Portland Cement Mortar: ANSI A118.4; dry-set mortar with latex used as replacement for all or <br /> portion of gauging water <br /> c. Organic Adhesive: ANSI A136.1, Type I. <br /> 8. Grout: ANSI A118.6; latex-Portland cement grout with dry polymers added in re-emulsifiable powder <br /> form; factory-mixed. <br /> D. General Tile Setting: <br /> 1. Preparation: <br /> a. Provide and install protection at surfaces of adjacent products and materials prior to beginning work. <br /> b. Clean surfaces free of dust and debris. <br /> c.
