06120 Rough Carpentry Labor <br /> A. Construct floor, wall and roof framing and sheathing as shown on the Drawings and as may be required for a <br /> complete buiiding shell: <br /> B. Provision of materials for rough carpentry is work of Sections 05210 STRUCTURAL STEEL MATERIALS and <br /> 06110 ROUGH CARPENTRY MATERIALS. <br /> C. General Framing: Wood framing shown on the Drawings is schematic and expresses design intent. Verify <br /> exact layout of floor, wall and roof framing and special structural bearing conditions. Install framing materials <br /> and trusses in accordance with in accordance with building codes and as shown on the Drawings; complete <br /> with bracing, connections, metal hangers, tie-down anchors, and all other accessories: <br /> 1. Install preservative treated lumber at wood in contact with concrete, at exterior locations as shown on the <br /> Drawings, and at other locations where required by building codes. <br /> 2. Install sill gaskets and sealant floor/wall framing as shown on the Drawings and specified herein. <br /> 3. Install laminated veneer lumber(LVL) members at all structural headers above wall openings. <br /> 4. Frame all walls in excess of 10'-0"stud length with manufactured studs. <br /> 5. Frame interior walls containing pocket doors with 2x6 studs outside of rough opening and with 2x4 <br /> manufactured studs, flat, each side of pocket. <br /> 6. Frame walls behind countertops with manufactured studs, depth as required for Project conditions. <br /> 7. Install wood blocking where shown on the Drawings, as may be required to comply with applicable codes <br /> and regulations, and as required to support work of other trades. <br /> D. Insulation/Moisture Protection: <br /> 1. Frame corners and perpendicular wall intersections at exterior walls so as to allow insulation by the <br /> Insulation Subcontractor. <br /> 2. Fill solid with batt insulation, all other pockets within exterior wall framing that will be inaccessible <br /> following installation of sheathing or interior framing. <br /> 3. Install polyethylene vapor barrier over interior of e�erior wall studs prior to construction of elevated tub <br /> platforms and intermediate floors. <br /> 4. Install polyethylene vapor barrier over interior of exterior wall studs prior to installation of intersecting <br /> interior walls. <br /> 5. Install polyethylene vapor barrier over subfloor and below underlayment at all floor areas over Garage or <br /> e�erior overhangs. <br /> 6. Install rigid insulation over masonry/concrete walls in the Lower Level (behind wood frame walls; where <br /> shown on the Drawings). Adhere to foundation walls with mastic adhesive compatible with insulation. <br /> 7. Install rigid insulation below floor joists above Garage, below habitable rooms. Furr-out remainder of <br /> Garage roof with 2x2's parallel with floor framing above. <br /> E. Floor Sheathing: <br /> 1. Install panels with face grain perpendicular to joists, glued and nailed/screwed in accordance with <br /> manufacturer's recommendations and buiiding code requirements. <br /> 2. Install additional layer of underlayment at all carpeted areas. Place sound control mat over subflooring, <br /> below underlayment. Secure with screws. Fill and thoroughly sand edge joints. Lightly sand any surface <br /> roughness, particularly around fasteners.� <br /> F. Wall Sheathing: Install panels with face grain parallel to framing studs, nailed in accordance with <br /> manufacturer's recommendations and building code requirements. <br /> G. Roof Sheathing: <br /> 1. tnstall panels with face grain perpendicular to trusses/rafters. <br /> 2. Install metal clips for edge support between framing members. Provide solid wood blocking for edge <br /> support where shown on the Drawings. <br /> 633 SPECIFICATIONS <br /> Page 32 <br />
