<br />Shop Drawings —All drawings, diagrams, illustrations, sched-
<br />ules and other data which are specifically prepared by CON-
<br />TRACTOR, a Subcontractor, manufacturer, fabricator, sup-
<br />plier or distributor to illustrate some portion of the Work
<br />and all illustrations, brochures, standard schedules, perform-
<br />ance charts, instructions, diagrams and other information
<br />prepared by a manufacturer, fabricator, supplier or distrib-
<br />utor and submitted by CONTRACTOR to illustrate material
<br />or equipment for some portion of the Work.
<br />Specifications —Those portions of the Contract Documents
<br />consisting of written technical descriptions of materials,
<br />equipment, construction systems, standards and work-
<br />manship as applied to the Work and certain administrative
<br />details applicable thereto
<br />Subcontractor —An individual, firm or corporation having a
<br />direct contract with CONTRACTOR or with am' other Sub-
<br />contractor for the performance of a part of the Work at the
<br />site
<br />Substantial Compiterion—The Work (or a specified part
<br />thereof) has progressed to the point where, in the opinion of
<br />ENGINEER as evidenced by his definitive certificate of Sub-
<br />stantial Completion, it is sufficiently complete, in accordance
<br />with the Contract Documents, so that the Work (or specified
<br />part) can be utilized for the purposes for which it was in-
<br />tended-, or if there be no such certificate issued, when final
<br />payment is due in accordance with paragraph 14.13. The
<br />terms "substantially complete" and "substantially com-
<br />pleted" as applied to any Work refer to Substantial Comple-
<br />tion thereof.
<br />Work —The entire completed construction or the various sep-
<br />arately identifiable parts thereof required to be furnished
<br />under the Contract Documents. Work is the result of per-
<br />forming services, furnishing labor and furnishing and incor-
<br />porating materials and equipment into the construction, all as
<br />required by the Contract Documents.
<br />ARTICLE 2—PRELIMINARY MATTERS

<br />2.1. When CONTRACTOR delivers the executed Agree
<br />ments to OWNER, CONTRACTOR shall also deliver it)
<br />OWNER such Bonds as CONTRACTOR may be required to
<br />furnish in accordant • with paragraph s 1,
<br />Copies of Documents:
<br />2.2 OWNER shall furnish to CONTRACTOR up to ten
<br />copies tunless otherwise specified in the General Require
<br />meets) of the Contract Documents as are reasonably neces-
<br />sary for the execution of the Work. Additional copies will he
<br />furnished, upon request, at the cost of reproduction
<br />Commencement of Contract Time: vottce to Proceed:
<br />3 The Contract Time will commence to run on the
<br />thirtieth day after the effective date of the Agreement, of . if a
<br />Notice to Proceed is given, on the day Indicated in the Notice
<br />to Proceed; but in no event snail the Contract Time commence
<br />to run later than the ninetieth day after the day of Bid opening
<br />or the thirtieth day after the effective date of the Agreement.
<br />A Nonce to Proceed may be given at any time within thirty
<br />days after the effective date of the Agreement.
<br />Starting the Project.
<br />2.4 CONTRACTOR shall start to perform the Work on
<br />the date when the Contract Time :omnences to run, but no
<br />Work shall be done at the site prior to the date on which the
<br />Contract Time commences to run.

<br />2.5 Before undertaking each par of the µ ork.
<br />CONTRACTOR shall carefully s•udy and compare the Con-
<br />tract Documents and check and verify pertinent figures shown
<br />thereon and all applicable field measurements. CON-
<br />TRACTOR shall promptly report in writing to ENGINEER
<br />any conflict, error or discrepancy which CONTRACTOR
<br />may discover; however, CONTRACTOR shall not be liable to
<br />OWNER or ENGINEER for failure to report any conflict.

<br />CONTRACTOR had actual knowledge thereof or should rea-
<br />sonabiv have known thereof
<br />2.6. Within ten days after the eff dive date of the Agree-
<br />ment (unless otherwise specified in the General Require-
<br />ments). CONTRACTOR shall submit to ENGINEER for
<br />review and acceptance an estimated progress schedule in-
<br />dicating the starting and completion dates of the various
<br />stages of the Work, a preliminary schedule of Shop Drawing
<br />submissions, and a preliminary schedule of -,slues of the
<br />Work
<br />Before any work at the site is started, CONTRAC
<br />TOR shall deliver to OWNER. with a copy to ENGINEER,
<br />certificates (and other evidence of insurance requested by
<br />OWNER) which CONTRACTOR is required to purchase and
<br />maintain in accordance with paragraphs 5.3 and 5.4. and
<br />OWNER shall deliver to CONTRACTOR certificates iand
<br />other evidence of insurance requested by CONTRACTOR)
<br />which OWNER is required to purchase and maintain in ac
<br />corciance with paragraphs 5 6 and a
<br />Preconstructlon Conference:
<br />8 N ithin twenty days after the effective date of the
<br />Agreement, b, t before CONTRACTOR starts the Work at
<br />the site, a conference will be held for review and acceptance of
<br />the schedules referred to in paragraph 2 6. to establish proce-
<br />dures for handling ,hop Drawings and other submittais and
<br />for processing Applications for Payment, and to establish a
