§ 6.04 <br />SEC. 6.04. TRAFFIC AND PARKING CONTROL. <br />Subd. 1. Traffic and Parking Signs and Signals. No <br />device, sign or signal shall be erected or maintained for traffic <br />or parking control unless it is authorized by the City. The Public <br />Works Department and the Chief of Police are hereby authorized to <br />erect such traffic or parking control devices as may be necessary <br />or desirable: provided, that when traffic and parking control is <br />marked or sign-posted, such marking or sign-posting shall attest to <br />authorization. The City may require the erection or removal of <br />signs on private roads at the expense of the private road owner. <br />Provided, that except as otherwise required by the City, private <br />road owners may erect, regulate and privately enforce other traffic <br />and parking restrictions within the private road right-of-way. <br />Subd. 2. Traffic Restrictions and Prohibitions. It is a <br />misdemeanor for any person to drive a vehicle contrary to lane <br />restrictions or prohibitions painted on any street, or contrary to <br />sign-posted, fenced, or barricaded restrictions or prohibitions. <br />Subd. 3. Parking Restrictions and Prohibitions. It is <br />unlawful for any person to park a vehicle, except an emergency <br />vehicle, contrary to lane restrictions or prohibitions painted on <br />any curb, or contrary to sign-posted, fenced, or barricaded <br />restrictions or prohibitions. <br />Subd. 4. Damaging or Moving Markings. Except as <br />otherwise provided, it is a misdemeanor for any per son to def ace, <br />mar, damage, obscure, move, remove, or in any way tamper with any <br />structure, work, material, equipment, tools, sign, signal, <br />barricade, fence, painting or appurtenance in any street unless <br />such person has written permission from the City or is an agent, <br />employee or contractor for the City, or other authority having <br />jurisdiction over a particular street, and acting within the <br />authority or scope of a contract with the City or such other <br />authority. <br />SEC. 6.05. CONSTRUCTION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF PUBLIC ROADWAY <br />SURFACING, SIDEWALK, CURB AND GUT'l'ER, DRIVEWAY APRONS OR CURB CUTS. <br />Subd. 1. Methods of Procedure. Abutting or affected <br />property owners wishing to contract for, construct or reconstruct <br />public roadway surfacing, sidewalk, curb and gutter, driveway, <br />driveway approaches, driveway turnarounds, or curb cuts must first <br />obtain a permit from the City in accordance with this Section. <br />Also, with or without petition by the methods set forth in the <br />Local Improvement Code of Minnesota Statutes, presently beginning <br />with Section 429.011, as the same may from time to time be amended. <br />ORONO CC 140-2 <br />(4-1-84) <br />(7-25-88)
