Date: March 9, 2026 Item: 5 <br />Presenter: Joe Ruthenberg, Superintendent - Parks, Facilities <br />Section: Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Title: Donation to Susan Lurton Dog Park - Resolution 7668 <br /> <br /> <br />1.Purpose: <br />The purpose of this agenda item is to accept a donation to be used towards the purchase of a bench <br />to be placed at the dog park. <br />2.Background: <br />The City has established a Park Donation Program to provide individuals, families, and <br />organizations with an opportunity to enhance and expand the City’s parks, trails, and open spaces <br />for the benefit of the community. <br />Through this program, the City has received a donation from Kari Snaza in the amount of $750.00 <br />for the purchase and installation of a park bench at the Susan Lurton Dog Park. Acceptance of this <br />donation constitutes the City’s agreement to procure and install the bench at the designated <br />location in accordance with program guidelines. <br />Pursuant to Minnesota Statute 465.03, cities are authorized to accept gifts, grants, and devises of <br />real or personal property and to maintain such property for the benefit of their citizens in <br />accordance with any terms prescribed by the donor. All donations to the City must be formally <br />accepted by resolution approved by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the City Council. <br />3.Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the donation and the installation of a bench at Susan Lurton Dog <br />Park. <br />AGENDA ITEM <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion to accept the donation of $750 from Kari Snaza for the installation of a bench at Susan Lurton <br />Dog Park. <br />Exhibits <br />Resolution 7668 - Park Bench <br />29
