Acknowledgement of donations for purchase of bullet proof <br />vests. <br />B. Authorization to acquire vests. <br />INTRODUCTION - At your Janury 12, 1987 meeting the staff <br />presented to you donations from the Bank of Long Lake together <br />with Gerald McCourtney amounting to $2,250. At the February 9, <br />1987 meeting the staff also presented a memo to you on how we <br />would seek further donations from non-profit groups in the <br />community. <br />DISCUSSION - Following the February meeting the City_ received the <br />following donations: <br />Olga Taylor: S s00.00 <br />Orono Lions 1,325.00 <br />Long Lake Chamber of Commerce 300.00 <br />Now that the City has the total amount it needs ($4,175) for <br />these bullet proof vests the City would like to the authority to <br />undertake purchase of these items, as it was not a capital `tem <br />authorized in the budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION - It is recommended that the Council gratefully <br />acknw edge the donations from the organizations that have made <br />this acquisition possible and direct City staff to undertake <br />purchase of these vests fcr all officers who do not presently <br />have them together with purchase for those officers who presently <br />have them but desire a replacement. <br />PROPOSED MOTION - Moved by , seccnded by _, to gratefully <br />acknowledge, by letter, the donations of '11 ;a Taylor, the Orono <br />Lions, and the Long Lake Chamber of Commerce and authorize staff <br />to unde-take the acquisition of the necessary vests using this <br />donated moneyfor al 1 off icers who do not presently <br />havo them together with replace'fcr those officers who presently <br />have the i L own and who desire a replacement.
