MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING HELD MARCH 30, 1.987 <br />#1121 ZULLO CONTINUED <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained the application <br />to raze the existing home and construct a new home on a <br />100' wide lot. The proposal requires a lot width <br />variance, 8' average lakeshore setback variance for <br />proposed deck, and a hardcover variance (27.9% proposed <br />in the 75-250' zone). Planning Commission recommended <br />approval of the lot width and hardcover variance; and <br />denial of the average lakeshore setback variance. <br />Subsequently, applicants have revised their proposal <br />for a 4' average setback variance (8' originally <br />proposed), and an additional 12 s.f. hardcover. <br />Assistant Zoning Administrator Gaffron read into the <br />record a letter from Paul & Beverly Blomberg, 3180 North <br />Shore Drive, stating that they take no exception to the <br />proposal. He noted another : �-tre- from Mrs. Stet ler, <br />seller of the property, stating her reasons for favoring <br />the proposal. <br />Councilmember Goetten expresse,] her appreciation to the <br />Zullo's for - ubmitting a revised plan. She noted that <br />the existing boat/storage house is a non -conforming use <br />and should b� stated as such in the resolution. <br />It was moved by Councilmember Sime, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to adopt Pesolution #2155 <br />amending it to approve the variances as proposed in the <br />revised plan and noting that the existing storage shed <br />is a non -conforming structure. Motion, Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />SMITHS BAY YACHT CLUB <br />REVIEW OF PLAN SUBMISSION <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained that the <br />chronological review of submittals/requests/etc. <br />involving Smith Bay Yacht Club's sketch plan and formal <br />application is being presented for Councils' information <br />only, no action required. <br />Councilmember Goetten questioned how the City deals with <br />Marina's now that the Marina Comittee no longer exists. <br />City Administrator Sernhardson explained that staff in <br />currently working on a new approach to effectively deal <br />with the marinas. <br />Councilmember Goetten voiced concern regarding the <br />effects of this proposal on DNR's push for "open <br />accesses". <br />City Administrator Bernhardson stated staff will check <br />on that issue. <br />8 <br />
