SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION - Maw 19 Filing Dates: April 4 First day to apply for absentee ballot April b First day to file for office April 21 Last day to file for office May 18 Lust day to apply for absentee ballot May 19 Annual School Board ELECTION DAY Polling Places -_will be the same as last year: *Maple Plain City Hall 7 AM - 8 PM Orono Middle School 7 AM - 8 PM Orono City Hall 7 AM - 8 PM *Designated as easiest access for the handicapped Candidate Qualifications: 1) 21 or more years of age at beginning of the term of office 2) a citizen of the United States 3) a resident of the school district for 30 days previous to the election Absentee Voti.91 Any person who is otherwise eligible to vote in the school board election may vote by absentee ballot for the following reasons: 1) a physical disability that prevents his/her going to the polls or voting in the voting booth at the polls; 2) his/her religious discipline makes himiher unable to appear at the polling place at the time the election is held; or, 3) he/she expects to be absent from the dis- trict at the time of election. How to Apply for An application for an absentee an ADsent_. Ballot ballot must be made no more than 45 d..ys nor lees than one (1) day before the election. The application for the absent-, ballot must be made either in person or by mail to the Clerk of Independent School District #278, District Office, 685 Old Crystal Bay Road, Long Lake, MN 55356, phone 473-7313. When the application has been signed and received by the Clerk of the school district, the Clerk will remit the ballot to the qualified applicant by mail or the appli- cant mby personally pick up the ballot in the District Office. The marked absentee ballots must be received via the 1'.5. mail or hand delivered before the polls close the day .,f the election. Voter Fligf.biliq An eligible voter for a school dis- trict election shall he a person who at the time of the election: 1) is 18 or more years of age; 2) is a citizen of the United States; 3) is a res- ident of the school district; and, 4) has resided in Minnesota for 20 days. (c) No political signs or advertising designed to Influence a voter on a question or candidate shall be displayed within 100 feet of the building in which the polling place is located on the day of election.
