CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO.7664 <br />A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING <br />THE DRUG FORFEITURE (JES) FUND AND <br />RENAMING DRUG/FORFEITURE FELONY FUND TO <br />POLICE FORFEITURE FUND <br />WHEREAS, The City of Orono recognizes the need to efficiently manage certain revenues <br />designated for specific purposes; and <br />WHEREAS, the establishment and renaming of special revenue funds will enhance the <br />accountability and transparency of these funds; and <br />WHEREAS, on November 24, 1997, the Drug/Felony Forfeiture Fund was established to track <br />cash and property seized relating to drug and/or felony type criminal activity, <br />donations received specifically for the police department, or such other revenues as <br />appropriate and authorized; and <br />WHEREAS, the annual equitable sharing report requires that the funds be tracked separately <br />between Justice and Treasury Fund and other types of police forfeiture activity <br />non -related to the Justice Equitable Sharing activities; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Drug Forfeiture (JES) Fund (232) be <br />established and the Drug/Felony Forfeiture Fund is renamed to Police Forfeiture <br />Fund (231) <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $227,008 related to Justice Fund and $197,539.35 related <br />to Treasury Funds, total of $424,547.35, will be transferred from the Police <br />Forfeiture Fund (231) to the Drug Forfeiture (JES) Fund (232). <br />1. Establishment of Special Revenue Fund <br />The City of Orono hereby establishes a special revenue fund titled Drug Forfeiture (JES) <br />Fund (232) for the purpose of accounting for revenues and expenses related to the Justice <br />Equitable Sharing activities. The City of Orono will thus rename the Drug/Felony <br />Forfeiture Fund (231) to Police Forfeiture Fund. <br />2. Funding Sources <br />The funds will receive revenues from drug, felony, and forfeiture activities of the Police <br />Department. <br />3. Use of Funds <br />28 <br />
