SITE EVeLUATICN REPORT
JOHN L. BROOKS PROPERTY
795 N. FERNDALF HOAR, ORONO
6-lo-bo
1
d
rK . -000*0'
On Junes 8, 1980 one proposed lot was tested for the suithbility
of supportinv a drainfield system. Six percolation holes were tested
and 3 soil borings taken on the proposed lot. Percolation holes were
dug b inches in diameter to a 42 inch depth while the soil borings
were dug 6 inches in diameter to a 4 foot depth and 3 inches in dia-
meter to the remaining depth. The percolation holes were dug by both
hand and power augers while the soil borings were dug by bucket type
hand augers.
This proposed lot is located in the Hayden Loam soil series which
is generally moderately permeable. The primary site yieldod a fairly
fast percolation rate of 13.0 minutes per inch and the water table is
deep enough to meet the requirements for a standard drainfield system.
Holes 5 and 6 were closer to the drainge swale on the property leading
to the lake and contained more clay soils. This resulted in a slower
percolation rate and the water table was higher. A shallow trench sys-
tem should be used if ever needed on this alternate site and the trenc-
hes should be kept from holes 5-6 as touch as possible.
Additional design information will be needed once the size and
location of a proposed house are known. It would be possible to locate
the alternate site up the hill more in better soil depending on where
the house is located. Please contact me at that time, or if i
questions come up.
Sincerely,
PERC OR , INC.
Mark S . Gront
