REGULAR MEETING OF THE ORONO COUNCIL, !!ARCH 30, 1978
Page 2
The City will have to enter into an agreement
with Minnetonka Beach to cover the water service
which crosses the border. Approval of the
subdivision at this time will facilitate the
recording of same and will be subject to the
necessary conditions ensuring correct road and
utilities installation.
Council fleeting (larch 30, 1978
Butler moved, 1lassengale seconded, to adopt
Resolution #891, A Resolution Approving The
Plat of Lafayette Ridge. Motion, Ayes (3) -
Nays (0) .
Mr. Alan Olson, City Planner, entered into the
record the following information concerning a
subdivision :cciuest of Durwell Vetter, Big Island,
dated December 12, 1977, which states:
Mr. Clifford French was present to discuss the
Hennepin County Park Reserve District acquisition
plan for the whole of Big Island. The plan is not
complete or approved by the District's Board, as
of yet, but Mr. French thought it would be early
in January.
SUBDIVISION
3201 Navarre Lane
(Continued)
RESOLUTION #891
Lafayette Ridge
v ,' i ION
#309
--g Tsland
Durwell Vetter
The acquisition sequence is planned to be as follows:
1. Acquire the Gridley -Vetter property, the Veterans'
Camp and a connecting link between the Veterans'
Camp and the existing Park holdings, all within
a five-year phaseout of the Camp.
2. Acquire the undeveloped properties (without
structures) on the entire island.
3. Acquire the remaining developed properties
over a total 30-50 year time period.
The operating and recreational use plan in very
preliminary, but points toward maintaining the
wildlife sanctuary and developing the Veterans'
Camp for day use.
Discussion on the subdivision proposal cantered
on the fact that Mr. Vetter has offered the land
to two other parties who seem agreeable working
with the Park District, but those offers apparently
expired before the application was ever made to
the City.
The matter was tabled until March 13, 1978 for final
Park Reserve District negotiation prior to the City
action on the proposal.
(Continued)
